Armed Forces Community in the New Forest

We value our local Armed Forces community and recognise the sacrifices made by service personnel, veterans, reservists and their families

We have strong links with the Armed Forces and are proud to be home to the UK's sole defence Sea Mounting Centre (SMC) at Marchwood. Also based at Marchwood is 17 Port and Maritime Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps - the British Army's only regiment with a port and maritime capability. Its purpose is to provide UK military deployable port, maritime and logistic enabling capability worldwide. The SMC handles shipping to and from: Europe, Falklands, Belfast, Kenya, Canada, various locations East of Suez, and has supported humanitarian aid operations.

We are pleased to be able to show our appreciation for our Armed Forces community in various ways, such as reduced membership rates at our leisure centres.

We have dedicated officers who can give advice to Armed Forces personnel and their families on issues such as housing, benefits, and council tax reduction.
