Health and Leisure Centres and Dibden Golf Centre

What happens with your money

The council's leisure service is responsible for the management and operation of five Health and Leisure Centres located in or around the main areas of population within the district - Applemore, New Milton, Lymington, Ringwood and Totton.

The centres encourage high levels of participation by all sectors of the community through the provision of a wide range of facilities and activities for all ages and abilities.

Our most popular activities are fitness and swimming and currently we have nearly 7,000 fitness members and 4,700 children learning to swim through our swim academy programme.

The centres also run a number of highly regarded health programmes (no longer funded by Primary Trust sadly).  Our Active Lifestyles scheme means that local practitioners can prescribe exercise as an alternative to medication and patients undergo a programme of exercise specifically designed to address their condition.  Programmes like postural stability and specialised cardio rehab sessions help with specific conditions.

Dibden Golf Centre is regarded as one of the top municipal courses in the south. Situated on the Eastern edge of the forest Dibden has a challenging 18 hole parkland course a picturesque 9 hole course and a modern 20 bay floodlit driving range together a full range of practice facilities.

Managed by MyTimeActive, there is also a professionals shop and a clubhouse which offers a full range of food and beverage.

The clubhouse caters for the golfing trade and is open to the general public for a whole range of special events including weddings, birthday and anniversary celebrations, seminars and conferences.
