Waste education for schools

Don't miss out on free waste education workshops

Waste education sessions If your school will be running projects on recycling or the environment this year then we can help.

We offer free waste education assemblies and workshops to every school in the New Forest. The workshops are a fun but thought-provoking way to engage your pupils in learning about waste and why it's one of the biggest environmental topics of today.

A school assembly is a great way to introduce the 3Rs to the whole school and explain why they are so important.

To make the assembly as interactive and memorable as possible, we have a PowerPoint presentation and a short film that shows the inside of our waste and recycling facilities. If your school doesn't have the facilities to support a PowerPoint presentation then we can offer an alternative assembly.

Let's get recycling

Let's get recycling is the school campaign from New Forest District Council which encourages pupils to reduce, reuse and recycle in a fun but informative way.

Workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of your school or class project but could include:

  • an interactive talk about the 3Rs
  • fun games, such as the recycle relay race
  • a chance to get creative.

Workshops are available for all ages and abilities and can cover topics such as what happens to our recycling, composting and planning a whole school recycling campaign.

Love Where You Live

Help your pupils show pride in their local area by taking part in a Love Where You Live workshop.

The workshop involves discussing what makes the New Forest such a special place to live and how we can protect it.

Pupils use group work to identify the hazards associated with litter and take part in a litter pick around the school grounds before making an action plan to stop the drop.

How to book

You can book an assembly or workshop at any time of year by emailing

We look forward to hearing from you.
