Solent Green Deal

Solent Green Deal logo If you're a Hampshire resident you could save money on your energy bills and add value to your home through the Solent Green Deal.

The scheme, developed for Hampshire residents by local authorities and supported by New Forest District Council, is helping people to make energy improvements to their homes and save money on their energy bills without having to pay any installation costs.

Using council approved contractors, the scheme offers loans to households to enable them to have improvements such as loft, wall or door insulation, double glazing, smart meters, solar power or biomass boilers. The loan is then repaid back through the savings you make on your energy bills. The savings made from having the work done, should outweigh the cost of the repayments, leaving you with a warmer, more energy efficient home...and cheaper bills.

There will also be additional help for those most in need, such as the vulnerable, those on low incomes and those with homes that are expensive to improve.

Unlike a conventional loan, if you move out of your home the 'bill' stays with the property where the savings are occurring and not with you.

If you are a council tenant or rent privately, you will need to seek permission from your landlord.

To learn more, visit solentgreendeal.org.uk or call freephone: 0800 052 2242 to request an assessment of your home. A council employee will come round to offer impartial advice, identify what measures best suit your home and provide quotes for approved suppliers.

The Green Deal is a nationwide government initiative.
