Council and contractor act quickly on Milford car park repairs

Issued 12 February 2015

The council is alerting residents and businesses in Milford on Sea about the closure of the Sea Road car park from Monday 23 to Friday 27 February. Following recent resurfacing works, the original contractor G Farwell Ltd made the council aware of a problem with the bonding of the new surface. The council has agreed with G Farwell Ltd that they will resurface the car park at their expense.

"We are sorry for any disruption this might cause," said an NFDC spokesperson, "but our priority is to ensure that the work is carried out to a high standard and the car park is left with a good quality, durable surface."

David Miller of local contractor Farwells said "We were disappointed that the new surface of the car park did not bond properly, but we are pleased to have been able to act quickly with the council to replace the surface and complete the job to the standard the council and residents should expect."

The work is expected to take three days to complete, subject to suitable weather conditions. Signs will be displayed to warn traffic entering the village of the car park closure and advise motorists that alternative free parking is available in Sea Road.

Alternative parking in Milford during the closure:

Parking will be available in Sea Road for the duration of the works. NFDC parking clock holders who normally park in Sea Road car park can also make use of this parking and, in addition, all clock holders (including short stay) can use the NFDC car parks in Hurst Road whilst Sea Road car park remains closed.
