Spring clean boost for hospice charity

Issued 9 March 2015

Oakhaven collection New Forest District councillors and staff have Spring cleaning in the bag after clearing out their unwanted goods to raise much-needed funds for a local hospice charity.

Mountains of charity bags containing quality clothes, shoes, hats, household goods and unwanted gifts have been collected from the council's two main sites at Appletree Court, Lyndhurst, and Lymington Town Hall. The New Forest National Park Authority also had a great response to a collection held at its Lymington offices.

The donated items will be sold at Oakhaven Hospice charity shops in Hythe, New Milton and Lymington, one of the good causes which New Forest District Council Chairman Cllr Maureen Holding supports.

Cllr Holding said: "Oakhaven is a wonderful charity which works so hard and does make a real difference to many lives in the New Forest. By having an early spring clean at their homes, council colleagues have made a fantastic contribution to people in need.

"I would like to thank everybody who donated - it was a real achievement by the team."
