Local Plan 2016-2036 Part 1: Planning Strategy

Main Modifications Consultation (13 December 2019 to 31 January 2020)

On 1 November 2018 the Council submitted the Local Plan 2016-2036 Part 1: Planning Strategy, supporting documents and copies of representations made during the formal pre-submission publication period, to the Secretary of State for independent examination. The Examination hearings took place during June and July 2019.

The Inspectors have identified that Main Modifications are necessary in order for the Local Plan 2016-2026 Part 1 to be found 'sound'. As part of the Examination process the Inspectors asked the Council to undertake a public consultation on the proposed Main Modifications and associated Sustainability Appraisal Addendum and Updated Habitats Regulations Assessment.

The consultation period commenced on 13 December 2019 and closed on 31 January 2020. Representations received after this deadline will not be accepted. All responses will be sent to and considered by the inspectors to inform their examination report.

Caroline Mulloy BSc (Hons) DipTP MRTPI and Kevin Ward BA (Hons) MRTPI have been appointed by the Secretary of State to undertake the independent Public Examination into the 'soundness' of the plan.

Ian Kemp is the Examination's Programme Officer appointed to assist the Inspectors. He is an independent officer who will organise and manage the administrative and procedural matters of the examination process. Any matters that anyone wishes to raise with the Inspectors should be submitted via the Programme Officer. His details can be found on the Local Plan examination web page.

All updates about the Local Plan examination process, timetable and available information will be made available on the Local Plan examination webpage.

Details of previous consultations can be found on the Local Plan Review - work undertaken so far webpage.
