Clean for Queen events this weekend
There is a three day event at Lepe Country Park Friday 4th to Sunday 6th March, where there will be litter picking, an education tent, and beach art. Members of the public are invited to come along anytime between 10am and 3pm to help the clean-up after registering at the welcome tent and collecting a litter-picker pack.
Clean for The Queen is a national campaign to inspire people to spend a few hours together litter picking in the run up to Her Majesty's 90th birthday.
We have been working with the New Forest National Park Authority, the Forestry Commission and the Verderers of The New Forest to bring the campaign to the local area.
Cllr Sophie Beeton, portfolio holder for the environment said; "The response we've had from local schools, parishes, community groups, and individuals has been fantastic and we are proud to be supporting them as a weekend of litter picking gets underway. Removing this litter will help protect wildlife and keep the New Forest as it should be - a special place for everybody to enjoy"
Oliver Crosthwaite-Eyre, Chairman of New Forest National Park Authority said; "The New Forest National Park is one of Britain's most treasured landscapes. Litter is unsightly and extremely harmful to wildlife and the New Forest ponies. We would encourage as many people as possible to help us tidy up the Forest this weekend and raise awareness of this important issue"
