Free sessions in local libraries - Getting Ready for Universal Credit

We are working together with Hampshire Learning in Libraries and will be running free Universal Credit workshops in the New Year for New Forest residents.

The sessions are for working aged people who are receiving any of the six legacy benefits  (Job Seekers Allowance, Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefits) or claiming benefits for the first time and will be moving to Universal Credit.

The sessions will give a general introduction to Universal Credit and tell people how best they can prepare for this change.  Participants, who only need to come to one session, will be shown how to apply for Universal Credit online, understand what documents are needed, and how to set up a 'Verify Now' account.

The sessions will be held at Ringwood, Totton, Lymington, Hythe and New Milton libraries.  If you are interested in finding out more please contact Alison.Talbot@nfdc.gov.uk or ring the NFDC Benefits Team on 01590 646122.

Learning in Libraries is planning more courses to help people with the move onto Universal Credit, including improving their Digital Skills. For more information visit www.hants.gov.uk/library
