Free business advice for New Forest businesses

Small and micro businesses will now benefit from free business advice thanks to an agreement between ourselves and Enterprise First.

The new advice service is aimed at any small business in need of guidance or information, whether considering a start-up or looking to expand into new markets.  Trained and experienced business advisors can help with topics including business planning, marketing and access to finance.

Councillor Barry Rickman, Leader, explains why we are keen to make this service available to local businesses, "With 88% of businesses in the New Forest employing fewer than ten people and 75% employing fewer than five, micro businesses form a vital part of our local economy. So it's important that we work to support these businesses allowing them to grow, recruit and invest locally."

Andy Pringle, Business Development Manager at Enterprise First said "The new business support partnership, will enable local companies and entrepreneurs to access free advice and support on all aspects of starting or growing a business. We can offer tailored support to individual businesses delivered via a team of experienced advisers. New Forest District Council and Enterprise First are keen to encourage and maintain a thriving economic hub where businesses feel well supported and have access to a range of services such as start-up loans, mentoring, and events".

In addition to the newly launched business advice service, work is underway to produce a 'Start your Own Business' book for later in the year which will contain specialist advice and information for anyone seeking to become self-employed.

Businesses wishing to take advantage of this free advice service should contact Enterprise First on 0800 652 6254 or visit www.enterprisefirst.co.uk for further information.
