What can you do to get the best possible rating?

  • look at your last food hygiene inspection report to check that you have carried out all the legal requirements. If you cannot locate your last report please contact us
  • make sure that you and your staff continue to comply with food hygiene law.
  • if you don't get the rating you want at your next inspection, make sure that you understand what you need to do - if you are not sure ask the inspector

Notification of food hygiene rating

You may be verbally told your rating at the time of inspection, or without undue delay and within 14 days. The rating will be published on the national food hygiene rating website 21 days after the notification.

You will receive an inspection report along with a food hygiene rating window sticker, and you can request a wall sticker if required. Any previous stickers that have been provided must be removed from display.
