Should I tell my neighbours about my plans before I submit a planning application?

The Council strongly encourages applicants to inform neighbours of their plans before formally submitting an application for planning permission.  Discussions of this sort can be really useful in ironing out problems and reducing the likelihood of objections being raised by neighbours at the application stage.  Applicants seeking pre-application advice from the Council are asked to record any contact with neighbours and their responses on the pre-application form.
