New Forest District Council boosts homeless charity

Miranda Computers New Forest District Council is helping to boost the income to a homeless charity just before Christmas by donating IT equipment it no longer uses. The redundant kit is being handed over to Jamie's Computers, a social enterprise and off-shoot of the Southampton based homelessness charity the Society of St. James.

Jamie's Computers offers secure IT decommissioning for businesses, refurbishing the equipment to resell, or recycling those elements which cannot be refurbished. All proceeds from the sales go to support the charity's work supporting over 2500 people with alcohol, substance addiction and mental health problems. Jamie's Computers also creates much-needed training and work experience opportunities for the Society's service users.

Miranda Ritchie, ICT manager with the council, said: "It is very useful for us to be able to securely dispose of our equipment and to know that it will be put to good use and help people to develop skills to help them with future employment."
