Donate it, don't dump it

Could your furniture help a local family in need?

Do you have a perfectly good piece of furniture that is difficult to get rid of? Our bulky waste service can collect your item for a fee, but ideally we only want to collect items that are not reusable, hoping instead that they can go to a new home.  So we are trying to help our customers find the right organisation that can take their furniture (bulky waste can end up in landfill).

If you have an item you want to find a new home for, complete this  'donate it or dump it' form to help you decide what to do with it.

There are a number of organisations that will take your unwanted furniture based on the type, condition and location. The British Heart Foundation for example will collect your item and resell it in one of their furniture shops. Alternatively SCRATCH is a Southampton-based charity which seeks to alleviate the effects of poverty to people living in Hampshire. Their furniture reuse project redistributes donated furniture and household items to families and individuals, who are referred as being in need. So your furniture could be directly donated to a local family in crisis. They need furniture all year round, and are always grateful for donations of beds, bedroom furniture, sofas and chairs, and dining tables and chairs. You can find more at www.scratchcharity.co.uk

We are hoping to have a real impact, reducing the amount of reusable furniture sent to landfill and helping those in need too.
