Coastal Works

The New Forest benefits from many different coastal habitats in the area, from coastal marshes and spits to shingle beaches and cliff tops.

Hordle Beach The grounds maintenance and engineering works team is responsible for maintaining and protecting much of the coastline under New Forest District Council jurisdiction for future generations.

Work includes habitat management in the coastal areas, such as the coppicing of blackthorn along Hordle Cliffs.

For more information on the council's coastal management strategy, visit the Coastal Management section.
