Beach Huts

We manage four beach hut sites across the district. These are at Barton-on-Sea, Hordle Cliff, Milford-on-Sea and Calshot.

Milford-on-Sea beach huts scheme  About the beach huts

There are over 800 beach huts along the New Forest coast. The huts are privately owned but are on council land, for which the owner pays an annual licence fee.

If you notice any damage to a beach hut, you can report it to us. We will contact the owner and advise them of the damage so they can arrange for repairs to be carried out.

Milford-on-Sea seafront scheme

In May 2017 119 new beach huts were completed on the seafront at Milford-on-Sea to replace the huts that were severely damaged in the violent storms of 2014. The new huts are designed to enhance the seafront, stand up to the challenging coastal conditions and meet the needs of beach hut users, local people and visitors.
