The Centres' admissions policy runs in accordance with the recommendations of the Institute of Sports and Recreation Management (ISRM), the Amateur Swimming Association and HSG179 (Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools) and is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users. Under 8yrs Policy
The following identifies supervision ratios required for children less than 8yrs of age, whether they are swimmers or non swimmers.
Armbands or other suitable floatation aids must be worn by non-swimmers. Weak and non-swimmers must remain in the learner pool or designated shallow end of main pool.
Learner Pool (weak and non-swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of three children aged 4-7yrs.
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of two children, if one or more child is under the age of 4yrs.
Designated shallow-end of main pool (weak and non-swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a max of two children under 8yrs.
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a max of one under 8yrs, if the child is not wearing armbands or other suitable floatation aids.
Main pool (swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of two swimmers under 8yrs.
Please note - The Centre reserves the right to insist that any children under 8yrs must wear floatation aids if they are considered a weak or non swimmer. For information about Swim lessons click here
In the interest of health and hygiene all children who are not toilet trained must wear a swimming nappy when using the pools and are available to purchase from Reception.
