Registering to Vote - Annual Canvass 2010

In order to keep the electoral register as accurate as possible, annual voter registration forms are being despatched to all properties in the District from 27 August 2010.  When you receive your form, read the notes on the back before checking the information printed on the front and making any necessary amendments.  The revised electoral register will be used for next year's District and Parish Council elections on 5 May 2011.  A referendum on changes to the voting system for Parliamentary elections is planned for the same day.  To ensure that you will be able to vote in any election or referendum held in 2011, it is important that you complete and return your annual voter registration form.

Changes to concessionary travel

The Government has decided that responsibility for concessionary travel should move from District Councils to County Councils effective from 1 April 2011. All information held by New Forest District Council for the purpose of administering concessionary travel will be transferred to Hampshire County Council by April 2011. The details of a new countywide scheme are due to be agreed by the County Council in October 2010. Further information about the new scheme will be available after this date.  New bus passes will be issued in mid March, effective from 1 April 2011 (to replace the existing New Forest District Council passes that expire on 31 March 2011).
