Insulate Hampshire extends free insulation offer
Release date: 30 March 2012
The extension of the free offer has come thanks to increased financial commitment from ScottishPower, the funding partner for Insulate Hampshire. With the extension of the free offer, residents will have more time to join the scheme as it was provisionally free under a Winter Warmer promotion due to end 31March.
Now Hampshire residents have until September to insulate their homes for free, helping them to keep their homes warmer in winter, cooler in summer and save over £300 a year on their fuel bills(4).
New Forest District Council's portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor Edward Heron, said: "It is great news that this offer has been extended until September. I would encourage all householders to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to save money on fuel bills and reduce their carbon emission before the scheme ends." From 1 January 2013 however, funding for subsidised insulation and projects such as Insulate Hampshire will end. This will mean that all residents will have to pay commercial prices for insulation, normally between £150 and £500, regardless of their personal circumstances. High demand is anticipated in the forthcoming months, so residents are encouraged to contact the Insulate Hampshire team as soon as possible by calling 0800 952 0037 or going online at insulatehampshire.co.uk to apply.
*(1) To qualify, applications must be received by 30th September 2012, with installations taking place until 30 November 2012. Due to expected high demand, this is subject to availability.
*(2) Free insulation for average sized properties or smaller and, in the case of loft insulation, that currently have less than 60mm (approx 2½ inches) of material. Charges will apply for larger properties or those where other installation equipment is needed, but all prices will be made clear at the point of the free, technical survey and given a 7 day cooling off period.
*(3) This offer excludes those residents living in the Southampton and Portsmouth City Council areas.
*(4) The Energy Saving Trust (EST) estimates that householders can save over £300 per year if both cavity wall and loft insulation are installed.
