Accessibility Of Local Buildings

New Forest District Council have subscribed to a website which enables disabled people to view accessibility of buildings before they visit a location.

Direct Enquiries, the Nationwide Access Register helps to provide information on access and facilities for people with disabilities.  It enables people with disabilities and their friends, families and carers to easily check access to local companies, businesses etc before they go out.  This can help avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment frequently faced in everyday situations when, for example, visiting a restaurant and finding there is inadequate access for a wheelchair, no accessible toilet or induction loops.

The Council have placed all of its 16 sites on the web - this includes the information offices, visitor information centres, health and leisure centres and golf club.

You can view the website at www.directenquiries.com.  The pages also give you a chance to feedback your comments and these will come back to us at New Forest District Council.  So please take a look and let us know what you think.

The Council carries out regular audits of its buildings with the help of the Disability Advisory Groups.  Audit reports are then put on the Council's website.
