Local Development Framework
Local development plan policies for the area are set out in a series of documents which together are called the Local Development Framework for New Forest District (outside the National Park). The main planning policy documents are currently the Core Strategy (adopted in 2009, Part 1 of the new Local Plan) and policies which have been 'saved' from the Local Plan First Alteration (2005).
The Council is preparing a new plan which will replace the remaining 'saved' policies from the old Local Plan. This document will provide new site specific and development management policies and is Part 2 of the new Local Plan. When the Sites and Development Management document is adopted, it and the Core Strategy together will be the Local Plan for New Forest District (outside the National Park).
Local Plan Part 1: Core Strategy for New Forest District (outside the National Park)
The Core Strategy was adopted by the Council on 26 October 2009. It covers the period up to 2026 and is the key plan for the area, setting out the overall vision for the area and how places within it should develop.
Local Plan Part 2: Sites and Development Management
The Sites and Development Management document is in an advanced stage in its preparation. It sets out detailed planning policies and proposals which implement the Core Strategy, including the allocation of sites for development.
