New Forest Spring Clean 22 March - 23 April 2019

The New Forest Spring Clean is part of the Great British Spring Clean, a national campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy, that brings people together to collect and dispose of the litter that spoils our environment and poses a threat to wildlife.

NFDC is offering practical support to people, community groups, clubs or schools who want to organise a litter pick in their community, whether it's a tidy up of your local park, beach, school or neighbourhood.

Download the Spring Clean Organisors Guide below for more information on how to organise your own spring clean litter pick, then register your event and request equipment by completing the e-form.

We will provide:

  • litter grabbers
  • rubbish sacks (and clear recycling sacks if you would like to recycle some of that litter)
  • posters to advertise your event
  • collection of the rubbish after your event
  • certificates and stickers for your volunteers

Please note that resources are limited and equipment for the period 22 March - 23 April 2019 will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 40 litter grabbers allocated per event.

To register an event and request equipment please complete the e-form, and provide us with a minimum of two weeks notice and we'll be in touch to confirm whether we can support your event.

If you would prefer to join an open public litter pick event please go to keepbritaintidy.org to find one in your area. There's no need to book or register for an open public event, just turn up!

Safety first

The safety of volunteers always comes first. You and your volunteers are not covered by the councils Public Liability insurance, and it is important that event organisers visit their chosen site and carry out a full risk assessment, and ensure all volunteers are aware of the Health & Safety do's and dont's before starting the litter pick.

Download the Health & Safety Guidance below for more information.

If you need more help please email wasteandrecycling@nfdc.gov.uk and we'll be happy to help.
