Council Tax contributes to the funding of the services we provide, together with services provided by Hampshire County Council, local town and parish councils, Hampshire Fire and Rescue, and the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner. Central Government gives every council a Revenue Support Grant, based on the needs, resources and population of the local area. However, this is never enough to finance all the services. To make up the difference each Billing Authority charges Council Tax. (scroll down page for topic links)

Please note: Further to the council tax leaflet and video information - We provide some services where the costs are covered by the income charged to service users, rather than funded via council tax. Examples of these services include; beach huts, boat moorings, building control, car parks, and taxi licensing. This was not made clear in the leaflet / on the video and we apologise for omitting that information.
