Local restrictions support grants

Funding has been made available to offer further support to local businesses which have been legally forced to close from 5 November 2020 to 2 December 2020 due to the national restrictions put in place to manage coronavirus.

The one-off grant payable to an eligible business depends on the rateable value of the property:

  • for properties with a rateable value of £15,000 and under, grants will be £1,334 per four weeks
  • for properties with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000, grants will be £2,000 per four weeks
  • for properties with a rateable value of £51,000 and over, grants will be £3,000 per four weeks

To be eligible for a grant you must be the ratepayer and your business must have been open and trading on 4 November 2020 and providing in-person services to customers.  This includes non-essential retail, hospitality venues, leisure and sports facilities, entertainment venues, community centres and halls and personal care facilities (such as hair, beauty and nail salons).  Where a business is required to close and is instead providing a takeaway or click and collect service, they are eligible to claim the grant.

Additional Restrictions (Discretionary) Grant

For businesses NOT eligible for the above Local Restrictions Support Grant Scheme, the Council is currently awaiting detailed guidance on the 'Additional Restrictions Grant' (ARG).

The ARG is designed to help those businesses which - while not legally forced to close - are nonetheless severely impacted by the restrictions put in place to control the spread of Covid-19.

Once detailed guidance is available, we will share information including the eligibility criteria and how to apply, via our eNewsletter and details will also be on this webpage.

We therefore recommend you continue to monitor our website and sign up to our business eNewsletter for updates.
