Christmas rubbish and recycling collections 2020-21

Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, there are changes to the collection days for household rubbish, recycling and glass.

Collections of garden waste are suspended between 21 December 2020 and 3 January 2021.

We also set up designated drop-off points at some car parks where you can leave your real Christmas tree to be recycled.

This Christmas collection information only applies to the Christmas and New Year holidays for 2020-21.

A Christmas refuse and recycling collection information leaflet will be delivered to every household in New Forest week commencing 14 December 2020.

You can download the leaflet below

Rubbish and recycling collections

These collections take away your black rubbish sack and clear recycling sack.

Put all your greetings cards, sweet and biscuit tins, and cardboard packaging into your clear recycling sack.

If you cannot re-use your gift wrapping paper put it into your black rubbish sack. The majority of wrapping paper cannot be recycled because it is a mixture of paper, plastic and/or foil.

Christmas tree drop-off points

You can recycle your real Christmas tree by leaving it in a designated drop-off point at selected car parks. The collected trees will be chipped and used as mulch.

This service is for real trees only, not artificial trees.

Remove all decorations from the tree before taking it to a drop-off point.

Leave trees in the designated fenced bays only. Be considerate of others; take your tree to the back of the bay to avoid blocking the entrance.

If you subscribe for Garden waste collections, trees under 6 foot can be cut up and put in your garden waste bag between 4 - 18 January 2021 .

Drop-off points will be open Saturday 2 - Sunday 17 January 2021. Refer to the table below for drop-off point locations.
