Bin stores guidance

With our new waste service starting soon, you may be considering whether you want a bin store, where to put it, and whether you need planning permission.

You do not need to have a bin store. Wheelie bins are weatherproof and designed to live outdoors. But if you prefer to screen them from view, you may choose to build or buy a store.

You need to store bins on your own property. The bins should be stored within your own garden or land.

They shouldn't be kept on roads, pavements, verges, or other public land.

Consider if your bin store needs planning permission. Whilst every site is different and needs to be considered on its own merits, many bin stores don't require planning permission.
